Sicko!

The title refers to moi, not some window-peeping freak who we had to have thrown in jail. Yes, I have been a bit under the weather this week. Felt it coming on last Sunday morning and thought I could make it through the half/conference day on Thursday, but I felt progressively worse as the week wore on and started Thursday with a major meltdown, so I went home, got in bed, and stayed there for most of the day. Felt better Friday, which was a good thing because I had a lot to do! I had planned to take Friday off, anyway, and there was no way I was going to spend the day in bed. The new couch was delivered at 10:00 and we LOVE it! So comfortable and squashy and great for napping! Not long after the couch was delivered, Mr. P from the store where I got the furniture arrived to help me with some accessorizing. He was there for about an hour and we got a lot accomplished! The rest of the day I spent making lists of things I still want to get for the house, putting things together to "complete the look" I'm going for, and getting things ready for the dinner party we were looking forward to hosting that evening.

Our guests, Nathan and Jessica B, arrived at 6:45 with the bread and wine. We started talking and didn't stop until after 1 am!! After a yummy dinner of salad, Chicken Mary Louise (chicken wrapped in bacon and covered in sauce!), steamed asparagus, and two different kinds of rice, we stood around the fondue pot in the kitchen and dipped strawberries, pineapple, pound cake, and shortbread cookies in some chocolate Amaretto fondue. YUM!! Then the boys retired to the backyard with cigars and what was left of the wine while us girls stuck around kitchen/living room for some girl talk time. We had a great time and I even helped Jessica start her own blog!

Saturday was football for D and couch time for me, as I had a bit of a relapse. I got to know the couch quite well and enjoyed a couple of naps while D was at Buffalo Wild Wings watching college football with the B boys. He got home around 6 and we headed to the Greek Festival at 6:45, where we met up with friends Adam and Angela! We found the crowds and long lines a little frustrating at first, but they moved quickly and the food was great! Sharing a few bottles of cheap Greek wine only helped our moods even more! It was a lot of fun and we made it home and into bed by 11:00.

Today was our last New Member class at church. What a great experience for both of us. We feel very informed, have met some great people, and are ready to dive into service! Stopped by D, Sr.'s Fish Fry at the Pearland Methodist church on the way home and chatted up a few other church members. Home by around 3:30 and enjoyed yet another nap on the new couch.

I feel about 85% now after all the rest I've gotten this weekend. That's not to say that a few more days off wouldn't be very nice, but I'm not going to push things. I think it was just allergies that got ugly, by the way-- no infection or projectile vomit to report. Allergies are really lame! I've been doing everything I've been told to keep the yucks at bay and they still got their nasty little hooks into me! Grrrrr...

Hasta luego and have a great week-o!

Would that be the fondue pot I gave you as a wedding gift? Isn't it a rule that the gift giver gets to dip fruit in the fondue chocolate first?!?
