Eeeek! We need an Ark!!

Hello from the middle of Lake Pearland! No, you're right-- there wasn't a lake in Pearland last week. We have just spent the past few days being positively inundated by roof-pounding rain! I'm telling you, people, yesterday was one of those days that I would have been more than happy to devote the entire 24 hours to bonding with my jammies and a good book-- the weather was so stinkin' awful. Our section of P-town really didn't have too much high water in horribly inconvenient places, so don't worry about us. I noticed a neighborhood located about 2 miles from our house, however, that wasn't so lucky. We're talking about people who couldn't even ENTER their neighborhood because the main street in was so flooded. I saw it on the way to the in-laws' house for dinner. Yuck. Friends, if you are currently in the market for a house, make SURE you check the surrounding areas for potential drainage problems before you sign those papers and, for heaven's sake, pay for flood insurance!

Our weekend was good, D and Otis went hunting with my dad and brother and killed lots of defenseless little winged creatures. I went to Eagle Lake to spend the weekend with my grandmother. We went to Brenham and had lunch with my pretty Aunt Juba and did some shopping. I got some really cool Christmas ornaments for my first official Christmas tree in my first official house! Yay! I had another sinking spell on Sunday because I was sick all through last week and I think my body was expecting more rest than it got on Saturday. I even had to go to the Doctor on Thursday - he hooked me up with a Z-pack! Anyway, D and I got home around the same time and spent the rest of the day being broccoli-like. Otis' allergies are really acting up after hunting, now, poor little guy. He's been having sneezing fits and his eyes are red and crusty! I think he's through the worst of it, though. I gave him Benadryl two nights in a row and covered his eyes with a warm compress while I watched cars being washed away on the news last night.

Okay, off to make the coffee and hit the sack!
