Final Day of 'Summer of the Diva'
Yeah, I know what you're thinking, it looks like Sweet D totally got the shaft on my last day as a summertime diva. Don't be fooled, though, starting to install the new oh-so-cool beveled laminate flooring was entirely his idea, I was totally prepared to let him feed me seedless purple grapes as he fanned me with ostrich plumes. We actually had an awesome day together! Here's the lowdown:
-8:30 Wakeup, Sweet D goes to get Starbucks whilst I run around like a mad woman picking up the house.
-8:47 Aaahhhh, nonfat white chocolate mocha with whip. I know, I know, why bother with the nonfat when you're going to lather on the whipped cream? You drink your coffee your way, the diva will drink hers the way she likes.
-9-11 Reading email, newspaper, making bed, shower, makeup, hair, clothes. Leave for lunch at Treebeard's at the Cloister.
-11:30-12:15 Mmmmmm-MM! Shrimp etouffee, rosemary roasted potatoes, and Italian Cream Cake for me, Sweet D enjoys a light lunch of meatloaf, green beans, jalapeno cornbread, seafood gumbo, crackers, and butter cake. Bonus: the parking meter was broken, so we saved 50 cents!
-12:30-1:00 Home in time to see the new valances installed in the kitchen.
Lovin' my saucy window treatments! You really have to see them in person to get the full effect.
-1:00-4:00 Adventures in the 'Dena with the in-laws. As usual, I couldn't leave town without a stop at the Polar Penguin. Blue Coconut 'n cream snow cones all around, my good man!
-4-5 Storm's rolling in, so we decided to seize the few minutes of overcast skies and lovely breezes to do a little yardwork in the front. D manicured the juniper bushes and scalped the token oak tree while I deadheaded the roses and raked up his mess. The diva worked up a bit of a glisten!
-5-8 Out to Sugar Land to wish my mom bon voyage, as she leaves for her 10-day African adventure on the morrow. Dinner from Carrabba's, which D and Dad lovingly picked up so I could keep the Safari Queen company as she finished her packing. Momentarily considered pouring steak sauce in her Jean Nate' bottle, as I hear lions and cheetahs are mad for A-1. Just kidding, mom!
-8-present As I have been typing away, D has expertly installed several pieces of laminate. I would send an updated picture, but the camera battery decided to die. This whole blogging thing is going to be great, I've decided, as today is the first time I've even had my hands on the camera since our honeymoon! It had some great pics on it that I promise to feature in future posts. Right now I am going to sign off with a shot of Otis T. Dog, the Wonder Weiner. As D was sweating buckets dealing with the flooring, Otis was doing his part by holding down the couch. Note the evil, "How dare you interrupt my slumber" glare.

I know! At Sbucks they always give me a funny look when I ask for non-fat but then say "Yup" to the whipped cream. Love the photos. Maybe someday I'll be cool enough to get an invite.
